Bad Luck: My Mac dies the day of MacWorld

I’ve been trying, but I’m not sure if my Mac will make it much longer.
I was trying to partition the Hard Drive of my iMac (Late ‘06) via Boot Camp Utility and it made me format the entire hard drive!
Thankfully, my data isn’t compleatly gone. I’ve done plenty of Time Machine backups.
But on the day of MacWorld? Isn’t that some kind of bad luck?
I hope it works out. I’m reinstalling Leopard right now… Updates soon :( Btw, I’m typing on my iPod touch if you were wondering

UPDATE: Transfering all data from Time Machine HD

MacTips Podcast Makes History

As many of you already know our very own writer for the MacTips Podcast, Nick Lensander, had waited first in line in front of Macworld for Apple’s keynote. He arrived early at 6:30 AM Monday morning. There Nick was interviewed by at least ten or more well known blogs including The Apple Blog and Ars Techinica. These blogs also posted link to The MacTips Podcast contributing to over 2000 page hitson Monday, a record for The MacTips Podcast. But, this is not the half of it.
On Tuesday, the day of the keynote, nick started streaming from the auditorium. Within the first two minutes he had already broken a MacTips Podcast record with nearly 200 viewers. From there we steadily rose to 1000 viewers. By that point we were listed as Ustream’s second most viewed live video only trumped Chris Pirillo, but then something amazing happened. Chris Pirillo, who was also streaming live with over 6000 viewers, had his stream crash. We suspect a dead battery. Upon further investigation we found that his website chris.pirillo.com had also crashed. Afterwards people quickly started transitioning from Chris Pirillo’s stream to the stream located on the MacTips Podcast’s website. By the end of the last of Apple’s keynotes at Macworld, the stream had topped out at 2300 viewers. This was truly something you would not want to miss, and it all started with someone waiting in a line (for 26 hours in the cold rain). Kudos to you Nick.

Steve Jobs’ Press Release to the Public

Dear Apple Community,

For the first time in a decade, I’m getting to spend the holiday season with my family, rather than intensely preparing for a Macworld keynote.

Unfortunately, my decision to have Phil deliver the Macworld keynote set off another flurry of rumors about my health, with some even publishing stories of me on my deathbed.

I’ve decided to share something very personal with the Apple community so that we can all relax and enjoy the show tomorrow.

As many of you know, I have been losing weight throughout 2008. The reason has been a mystery to me and my doctors. A few weeks ago, I decided that getting to the root cause of this and reversing it needed to become my #1 priority.

Fortunately, after further testing, my doctors think they have found the cause - a hormone imbalance that has been “robbing” me of the proteins my body needs to be healthy. Sophisticated blood tests have confirmed this diagnosis.

The remedy for this nutritional problem is relatively simple and straightforward, and I’ve already begun treatment. But, just like I didn’t lose this much weight and body mass in a week or a month, my doctors expect it will take me until late this Spring to regain it. I will continue as Apple’s CEO during my recovery.

I have given more than my all to Apple for the past 11 years now. I will be the first one to step up and tell our Board of Directors if I can no longer continue to fulfill my duties as Apple’s CEO. I hope the Apple community will support me in my recovery and know that I will always put what is best for Apple first.

So now I’ve said more than I wanted to say, and all that I am going to say, about this.

Steve

Tap Tap Dance: Reviewed

Tap Tap Dance ($4.99) is much like the free Tap Tap Revenge, but with more features and even better songs.

Tap Tap DanceIt has loads of songs including Technologic / Draft Punk, Where’s Your Head At / Basement Jaxx, and Disco Lies / Moby.

Even with all these songs, there are many enhancements and new features. In the “boss” levels, it has all kinds of different views and themes that it will switch between matching the beat of the song. It acts much like Guitar Hero in the way you “unlock” the next songs and next levels.

The overall game experience seems faster and more responsive that Tap Tap Revenge and has a sort of polished feel to it. The animations seem more fluid. All of it just works really well.

customThe animation also responds to how well you are doing in the game. The more notes you hit in a row, the more complicated the background animation gets. It is a nice touch.

There are many other little features and things that you will have to find out for yourself. In summary it is a great game for your every day life and is quite addicting. You can find it at the iTunes App Store [link] or search “Tap Tap Dance”.
